By disinfection, the complex of measures that apply to decontamination is commonly understood and aims at destroying, removing or reducing the number of pathogens and conditioned pathogens from different elements of the external environment to a limit to which their presence is no longer present the risk of an infection.

Disinfection is a chemical process that eliminates growing microbial organisms, but not necessarily resistant forms, spores.

Disinfectant means the product or substance that has the ability to destroy or neutralize infectious agents from the external environment.

Depending on the purpose, we distinguish:

  • Prophylactic disinfection aims to prevent the emergence and spread of infectious-contagious diseases. Applies to the community.
  • Current disinfection - continues - aims at destroying germs in outbreaks. Applies to products removed from sick and germ carriers.
  • Terminal disinfection - radical and immediate of the rooms and their inventory.
